Ep 64. Allison Johnston, CEO of The Spice Trader talks about her unique organic cooking spices

The flavour of their spices are more intense, therefore, use less than you normally would when first using them. Allison and partner Neil, buy all their herbs and spices in small batches so they are always fresh and at their peak. Due to their freshness their spices offer up a complex taste profile and character unmatched by ‘regular’ spices, not to mention bulk spices. To bring you only the best spices we spend a considerable amount of their time sourcing and trying all the spices before adding them to our inventory.

slideshow_4While they try to stock mostly organic, this is sometimes not possible. If they cannot find a product that is organic, they try to find the next best thing, herbs and spices that are either grown naturally or wild harvested. No sugar, preservative, fillers, MSG or salt are added to our herbs or spices. They mix and prepare most of our blends by hand and in small batches so they are always fresh. All of their spices are packed in their own air tight Spice Trader tins, which helps to keep them as fresh as possible.
