Elizabeth, owner of Jewels Under the Kilt thinks a great roasted nut is one in which the integrity of the nut is kept while infusing flavors like cinnamon, chipotle, chocolate and maple. All their nuts are roasted with care and pride. Elizabeth loves cooking using fresh and local ingredients and it was her passion for food that the recipes for the maple roasted nuts was conceived. After jumping in with two feet, planting their first 100+ trees, Elizabeth and her family became nut famers fast and continue to plant a variety of fruit and nut trees. Each year they will continue to add to the orchard. Join us as she shares her insights and lessons learned over the years.
Elizabeth, her husband and her daughter moved to Fergus Ontario in 2010 to a 90 plus acre farm. Their passion to grow and produce some of the most amazing nuts for their customers has been a dream come true. Elizabeth believes that if everyone would buy local at least 50 percent of the time they could help the environment and sustainability of our farms. Elizabeth is excited to be growing almond nuts now as well. And along with her new found love of being a nut farmer, her daughter is quiet the nut farmer herself with being their little nutcracker!
