Ep 107. Frank Molinaro of Molinaro’s Pizza on the Italian pizza you have probably had in your home

www.Molinaros.com
A storied history of quality traditions
Molinaro’s has been in business for over 50 years, specializing in customized deli and frozen pizza programs for many small and large retail chains. The core items we produce are fully topped pizzas and pizza crusts, calzones, pizza kits and specialty breads, such as foccacia and flatbreads. We produce all of our products in-house and, while we produce products for both the frozen and deli fresh segments of the market, we insist on using only the finest natural raw ingredients.

Our company has been growing steadily every year as we introduce our items to different markets that are in need of quality products. To accomplish our tremendous growth, Molinaro’s has recently made major capital investments, including a second topping line to increase our capacity and a stone oven from Italy to add an exciting, unique product line to our portfolio.

The secret of our continued success is simple: We offer retailers unsurpassed quality, along with additional benefits that increase volumes, such as competitive pricing and line extensions. Our competitive edge is our ability to offer exceptionally high-quality products produced in the most cost-effective way with a flexibility and consistency that cannot be challenged.

Ep 106. Brandie Daicoff of Sabra Canada on must have hummus

www.sabra.com
Spread the World
We are one world. The trouble is, we’ve only met about .00001% of ourself. But what if we could get to know ourself a little better? What if we could introduce the world to the world? Sharing the most fundamental part of who we are — the food we eat — with people near and far? Then we might discover friends we didn’t know we had. And, in the process, realize this world is far smaller — and tastier — than we ever imagined.

A Little Bit Of History
That idea was what led us to found Sabra Blue & White Foods in Queens, NY, way back in 1986. Starting with hummus, eggplant dips and babaganoush spreads, we helped introduce thousands — then millions — of people to a fresher, more mindful way of eating. Since then, we’ve added fresh salsa, authentic guacamole, and deliciously healthy innovations like our Greek Yogurt vegetable dips. All with the goal of bringing people together, one bite at a time.

It’s been almost 30 years since that first bowl of hummus, but we’re still just getting started. Today we are owned by two independent global food companies — PepsiCo and Strauss Group — but we are led, as we’ve always been, by our customers. We couldn’t be more excited for the journey ahead.

Ep 103. Summer Fresh Salads tasty dips go great with chips

www.summerfresh.com
Company Profile
Fresh and flavourful, healthy and nutritious gourmet dips and appetizers, salads and chef prepared foods for a busy lifestyle is what Summer Fresh Salads is all about. As a leading North American supplier of prepared foods to the retail and food service sectors including supermarkets, restaurants, retail stores, caterers and more, our company offers a full range of over thousands of product recipes in addition to private label food products many of which are kosher and organically certified.

Like fashion, food follows seasonal trends. We, at Summer Fresh, believe in this so strongly that we trademarked the phrase Food is Fashion(TM). Essentially, it means that while the staples like meat and potatoes stay the same, the foods that you use to accessorize this dish change with the seasons like fashion. Whatever the season, you may be confident that Summer Fresh is setting trends with many new and exciting product introductions with every quarter. Summer Fresh Salads is food for real life, prepared ready to be served, so that you and your customers can enjoy doing the things you love most – whatever that may be.

In 1991, I together with my mom, identified a need in the market place to make fresh, specialty gourmet salads available in deli supermarkets. Why should gourmet salads be enjoyed only when dining at fine restaurants or when family get togethers call for my aunt Melody’s famous mouth watering potato salad?

Only after a few short weeks, my mom and I found a 3,000 square foot federally inspected facility. Production quickly began. At present, our family run operation occupies a 63,000 square foot state of the art manufacturing facility that is both federally inspected and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) recognized which ensures problems are prevented in advance as opposed to rectified after the fact. Our operation is also kosher and organically certified and is equipped with the most modern environmental control systems and manufacturing equipment available in today’s food manufacturing industry including metal detectors, rare earth magnets and ultraviolet light technology.

With our fully equipped microbiologist operated in-house laboratory, R&D facilities, strong quality control program and technical team, the highest quality freshness, consistency and nutrition are always guaranteed. And with the ‘Just in Time’ production and distribution system that we adopt for our refrigerated fresh food products, all our products are made to order ensuring that orders are processed, produced and delivered immediately. Indeed, Summer Fresh is Fresh!(TM)

Over the years, many things have changed for Summer Fresh Salads. But, the one constant is the level of involvement from our family and entire staff. With over 100 full time employees, Summer Fresh Salads’ professional customer service representatives are trained to make the deli more profitable. They facilitate the deli manager’s task by taking customer orders, providing product information, supplying point of sale material and offering advice on how to merchandise effectively. In addition, they prepare deli programs specifically designed for your needs and will train staff which all serve to promote deli sales. At Summer Fresh Salads, we are all dedicated to helping you and your customers get the best quality, and it shows.

Ep 100. Wendy McNally of Good for You Desserts on healthy nut-free baked goods

www.GoodforYouDesserts.com
It all started back in 1995 with a woman, a sweet tooth and a dream. Wendy McNally opened her own Bakery with one objective; to make a product that tasted like the treats she was presently enjoying, only healthier. She set out to make foods that were good for people.

Good For You Desserts was conceived out of the desire to indulge in sweets, without the guilt. It meant not depriving yourself of the treats you crave, but a matter of choosing the right ones.

Wendy never imagined a bakery in her future. When she was little, the closest she got to baking was the time she spent on her Easy Bake Oven! But, following a nine week course and a year of experimentation in her Toronto apartment, the perfect Low Fat treat was perfected. When her moist, decadent tasting Chocolate Chip Banana Bread started attracting the attention of family and friends, Good For You Desserts was born.

Despite humble beginnings, Good For You Desserts landed Toronto’s prestigious Pusateri’s Avenue Road in 1996. Pusateri’s appreciated the Good For You concept and offered the breads to their discriminating customers. They couldn’t keep them on the shelves.

And the rest, they say, is history. Still a key customer 15 years later, Pusateri’s is among the many prestigious and loyal customers Good For You Desserts has developed based on hard work, commitment and uncompromising quality. Delicious treats without the fat…IMAGINE THAT!

Good For You Desserts is a Canadian owned and operated company that produces high quality baked goods for you and your family. They are NUT FREE, low fat, low calorie, low sodium, low cholesterol, no Trans fat, SINFUL TASTE! Need we say more? They use all natural, fresh ingredients with absolutely NO ADDITIVES OR PRESERVATIVES.

You and your family deserve to make Good For You Desserts a part of your lives.

All of their breads are homemade with all fresh ingredients; and they still peel all their own bananas. This ensures they get the most natural sweetness from each banana. Each Banana Bread contains over half a pound of bananas. Add the punch of Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips and the result is a mouth watering delicacy! The Carrot, Pineapple, Raisin Bread has lots of fresh carrots and pineapple, with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Because they are all natural, breads should be refrigerated to ensure continued freshness. They freeze beautifully up to 3 months.

Ep 99. Adrian Jaques of Sunshine Pickles on organic pickles with a kick

www.picklesplease.ca
We started growing asparagus in 1982. My wife Claudia canned and pickled our produce for our own consumption. My sons and I just loved her recipe for pickled asparagus and you just can’t keep something like that all to yourself. We gave some to our friends as gifts. Of course, they just kept asking for more… and our business sprouted nicely from there.

With the help of our sons — Josh, Ben and Adrian — and Claudia’s wonderful creativity in the kitchen, we now offer 23 types of pickles. Half are certified organic. We do not use preservatives, fillers or additives. All the vegetables are processed right away, fresh from our fields. You can taste the sunshine in them.

We invite you to try our products. We know you’ll be thankful for the sun that shines down on our fields. Moreover, we will also be thankful; to have you as a customer.
