Ep 67. Shalini Sheth, operations director at Surati Sweet Mart talks about their 70 year Indian snack company

Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Surati Sweet Mart (Surati) is a leading Indian food manufacturer and distributor, which has served millions of customers worldwide. Our products have been perfected from our very own traditional family recipes and each product is guaranteed to stimulate your taste buds with a delicious and nutritious flavour. Over time, we have added a new snack line under the ‘Shalini’ brand name and in 2008 began to produce baked goods under the ‘Anmol’ and ‘Golden’ brand names.

Surati’s roots can be traced all the way back to Kampala, Uganda, where brothers Harilal and Maganlal Sheth founded the company in the early 1940’s. The Surati brand quickly became famous in it’s own right in East Africa, and one store turned into three. The business continued to expand until the 1970’s when the Asian expulsion forced the Sheth family to leave their home. As a result, Maganlal and his family eventually found their way to Canada in the 1980’s.

Olivia Maeder

My name is Olivia Maeder and I am an interview host at behindthebiz.org interviewing leaders, authors and inspirational speakers.

I go to Ryerson University taking a passion in interviewing, broadcasting and meeting new people. Although heels and business woman attire with broadcaster “Ron Burgundy” hair while reading the news in my main interest and passion, I am a huge outdoor girl who would jump in any lake, climb any tree or sit under the sun in any temperature of weather.

I take great passion in peoples stories and will go to many lengths just to find the true news or heart in any story. I am sensitive and respectful when it comes to personal interviews and with great pride I am eager to get to the bottom of anything and bring out the truth, making it a great story.

Anyone I meet I absorb it as a great opportunity that I am lucky to have.
